Hi there,
I took my 7month old son to a Sure Start counterbalance in and they measured his head, said it was 'off the nautical chart' in terms of centiles etc and that I should take him to my doctors:shock:! I am going to the doctors tomorrow and volition insist on a referral to come across a pediatrician because I'g actually anxious now.
We all have big heads in both families. I am 5ft 11'' and hubby is 6ft two'', LO is bigger than average so it stands to reason that his caput is on the big side....
xx

Pay no attention, at 8 months my son was too tall plainly. I'thou 5ft 3, his male parent is 6ft three, he ain't gonna be small! But he'south 3 now and his head is massive - he looks like a bobble head toy. I'm non fifty-fifty exagerating, everyone says it! Your niggling one will grow in his ain way, they e'er do!

Thank you for the reassurance :-) Just wondering how many other parents have had a like feel. The lady said 3 times, ''Make an date to see your GP!'', I would have anyway but her insistance virtually made me cry! I walked from Sure Start home, rang the doctors and no appointments were available so I began to imagine all the problems it could be and turned upwardly at the doctors all sweaty saying ''I'grand happy to wait until a doctor is costless!!'' like a nutter! Anyhow, appointment is tomorrow so we will see.xx

He'due south fine! Sitting up, eats well, makes plenty of noise! He'southward playful, smiley- honestly zero at all to exist concerned nearly..I don't think. I think the good folk at Certain Start must take guidelines, only actually upset me how they delivered the advise! My mum (the oracle!) said ''There is absolutely NOTHING incorrect with him!!''. I think I'm only interested to see how many people have been told their baby exceedes certain measurements. My cousin told me that a friend of hers has a 10 calendar month old that has been referred to a language specialist because he doesn't 'talk' as much as he should..:hmmm: twenty

my friend's DS was referred to a paediatrician because of his big head, turns out it was a symptom of his harmatoma neoplasm syndrome.
Non saying in that location is anything to worry about with your LO, but it can be a symptom of an underlying illness that hasn't been picked up

Always amend to get these things checked out, even if it'south only to keep the HVs quiet :lol:

This is why we never went to weigh-ins, never had a HV and never allowed them into our homes.

We saw a HV once at the start counterbalance in for our DS1 and they told my fiance (who I have now been with for 8 years) that nether no terms what so ever should he be a father nor should he ever hold our son... why?

Because he has a genetic eye condition. That was their reason. We left that cold church hall both crying our eyes out and never E'er went back, and we refused to let any HVs into our firm fifty-fifty though they kept coming round uninvited and demanding to see our son.

He's fine! Sitting upwardly, eats well, makes plenty of noise! He's playful, smiley- honestly naught at all to be concerned nearly..I don't think. I think the proficient folk at Sure First must have guidelines, merely actually upset me how they delivered the advise! My mum (the oracle!) said ''There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with him!!''. I think I'k just interested to run across how many people have been told their baby exceedes certain measurements. My cousin told me that a friend of hers has a x month old that has been referred to a language specialist considering he doesn't 'talk' equally much as he should..:hmmm: xx

My 21 month old has just just started saying words. I took him to see a HV and she said "oh he might be a bit slow considering he'due south the 2d child. Or he might have something wrong with his tongue. Or he might be a chip backwards. We should get him checked out..."

Subsequently that nighttime I heard him chatting abroad to his older blood brother, I walked in and he stopped. Silence. Nothing. He talked to DS1 but not me, his step dad, his dad, his grandma, no-one. Now he's talking more than he chats to everyone but he refused, for at least 3 months, to talk to anyone other than DS1... Some kids are simply weird like that...

just to allow you know my hubby has a large head;
when the hv came round to mensurate my son's head when he was a baby, after measuring the offset fourth dimension, she did a double have and as a first time mum i asked her if something was incorrect? she said your son'south caput is bigger than normal:shock: i just said; oh it's quite normal, just look at his dad! she blushed.
and so when i had my dd and a dissimilar hv came, she did the head measurement twice and checked the graph but nevertheless looked baffled. my married man and i started laughing and just told her it runs in the family.:lol:
